House of Wax (2005) This torture-porn horror film remake (of the 1953 3-D classic with Vincent Price) featured the lengthy, much-publicized death scene of red bra-wearing Paige Edwards (Paris Hilton in her first major theatrical film appearance). Even the film's original marketing-tagline slogans included: "On May 6th...See Paris Die!" In 2006 in honor of her role, Paris won the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actress. In the long pursuit scene, bratty teen Paige was chased through a large factory warehouse to look for a place to hide. She was stabbed in the achilles heel by wax-faced Bo (Brian Van Holt), and threatened by a knife. Paige was finally murdered by impalement with a sharp wooden spear thrown (like a javelin) through the windows of a car and directly into the center of her forehead. When she was propelled backwards into a fence and then forward onto the ground and onto her knees, the spear was thrust further into her skull and exited out the back of her head. Blood dripped onto the floor, as she was propped up in a death pose and filmed with a camera (an in-joke gag about how Paris Hilton enjoyed being filmed). |

King Kong (2005) In Peter Jackson's remake of the 1933 classic, there was a ferocious battle scene of the giant 'beast' Kong fighting against three T-Rexes to save his 'beauty' - Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts). He smashed one with a giant boulder, threw the second one off a cliff and killed it as it clung to vines, and then destroyed the final dinosaur by riding it like a bucking broncho. The monstrous ape then held it down and ripped apart its jaws until they snapped. As in the original, Kong then played with the jaw for a moment, and beat his chest in victory as he roared. |

Saw II (2005) Eight victims of diabolical Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) were also tested with the serial killer's life-and-death games in this first of many horror sequels. The newest victims were confined in a lethal, booby-trapped house to face similar convoluted, maze-like deadly circumstances:

Sin City (2005) The live-action feature film directed by Robert Rodriguez was adapted from the series of comic books by creator Frank Miller. The digital film was composed of a series of storylines, one of which involved the torturous and sick death of silent, creepy, cannibalistic serial killer Kevin (Elijah Wood). He was vengefully killed by thuggish Marv (Mickey Rourke) for the murder of his prostitute lover Goldie (Jaime King). After a desperate fight to the death (with Marv urging Kevin on: "Is that the best you can do, creep?"), a dismembered Kevin was propped up against a tree, after his arms and legs were sawed off and tied off with rubber tubing tourniquets. He was then devoured by a meat-eating wolf (Kevin's pet wolf) as Marv described the death, while the wolf gnawed at Kevin:
An exasperated Marv cut Kevin's head off with a saw - he stood there with the decapitated head in his left hand. |
